From Blueprint to Beauty: Family-Owned Excellence

Integrity is built on the relentless pursuit of excellence, trust, responsibility and accountability. Architectural Builders has provided luxury home renovations with 5-Star service for over thirty years in Southwest Florida, including: Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Naples, and Sanibel.

Legacy of Builders: Renovation Through Generations

For three generations, the Gunder family has built more than homes – but a legacy of craftsmanship and excellence.

It all began with Lyndon Gunder, the father of current president Curt Gunder.

While Lyndon worked in advertising in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he aimed to remodel his and his wife’s first home in the 1950s. Based on the success of his remodel, a local resident asked if he would build a garage for them.

He said yes – and Architectural Builders was born.

In 1961, Lyndon and a partner developed a residential community called “Caribe Colony”. California architecture inspired Lyndon. He handled the design, sales, estimating, and construction of a 128-lot community, including a pool with clubhouse.

The community was a success, and the build requests kept growing, at one point Lyndon built fifty-five homes in one year.

As Lyndon’s career blossomed, his peers named him president of the Home Builders Association. He earned many awards and gained recognition as one of the most highly respected builders in Fort Wayne.

Decades after his retirement and passing, Lyndon’s name is still synonymous with high quality design and build.

Curt Gunder, President

Certified General Contractor

Born in Fort Wayne Indiana, Curt grew up helping his dad in the business: cleaning the roads in Caribe Colony, sweeping homes under construction, as well as learning to frame homes.

After graduating in 1985 with a degree in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University, Curt transitioned to an engineering role at Magnavox for three years.

But his desire to build a business reputation like his father remained constant.

Curt’s parent had already moved to Naples, when he and his wife, Jennifer, decided to move to Florida, too. Curt set his sights on becoming a builder like his father.

The couple moved to Bonita Springs in 1988, and Curt obtained his Certified Residential Contractors License in 1989 – and incorporated Architectural Builders of Southwest Florida in 1993 as a nod to his dad. Curt’s first project was the 1958 home they’d purchased in Estero. He transformed the house into a modern home, adding a large, detached garage plus office space.

The Gunder family grew: Logan in 1989, Grant in 1994; and triplets Abbey, Ashley, and Alen in 1996. Luckily for them, expansion plans were already in the works. Years later, the family decided to “basically start over”. They tore down their house and built the home they live in today!

Curt says he couldn’t be happier having so many family members in the business together.

“I am very proud of our family. We have built a successful business together, as well as an excellent reputation.”

Lyndon Gunder must be immensely proud, as well.

Logan Gunder, Senior Vice President

Certified Residential Contractor

From the moment he gripped his first hammer in diapers, Logan was destined to build.

He grew up in the business, starting at the bottom by hauling trash and removing wallpaper. After graduating from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2014, Logan moved to full-time, and over time took on increasing responsibilities. He now oversees team leadership, project management, client relations, sales, and quality assurance – ensuring every renovation meets the highest standards of excellence.

Logan and his wife, Mackenzie, are proud parents to their beautiful twins, Hallie and Landon. They began their journey together after he graduated from FGCU, when they met while working at the same restaurant. During that time, he worked full-time at Arch Builders. At night, he served as a waiter, building his career and their future together.

Ashley Gunder

Office Administrator

Ashley (Gunder) Morgan has been part of the team since high school, stepping in whenever extra help was needed, whether it was assisting with office tasks or cleaning job sites.

Her full-time commitment began after Hurricane Ian devastated the Southwest coast in 2022. Ashley loved her old job.

Still, she really wanted to join her family. They were helping others recover from the storm’s damage. She discovered that giving families peace of mind during a tough time was – and continues to be – immensely rewarding.

Ashley earned a degree in marketing from Florida Gulf Coast University, graduating in 2019.

Ashley and her husband, Andrew Morgan, met in their junior year at FGCU. They connected through mutual friends and their shared charity work. In October 2022, Ashley and Andrew celebrated their marriage in a beautiful ceremony on Jekyll Island, GA.

In her current position, Ashley serves in a variety of responsibilities, including marketing, insurance, the selection process, estimating, and technical support. Her attention to detail and organization ensures every project runs smoothly from starting to finishing.
